LIBRARY SUBSCRIPTION DATABASES

 

 

Note: You must enter your Teacher Loan Card number to access most of these databases.  These databases are to be use for teaching purposes.

 

Magazine & Newspaper Articles 

EBSCOhost provides access to a broad range magazines and newspapers, including general reference, business, health, social science, education, science, humanities, and news and current events.

    

Newspapers: includes Chicago Sun Times, Chicago Tribune, Daily Southtown, New York Times 

NewsBank provides access to local newspapers and newspapers around the United States. Each paper provides unique coverage of local and regional news, including companies, politics, sports, industries, cultural activities, and people in the community. Paid ads are excluded.

Obituaries & Death Notices

Search by name, date range, or text such as residence, occupation, hobbies, family members, or other personal information.

Chicago Tribune Historical Archive

Images and full text of historical local, regional, national, and international issues and events including major wars, prohibition, Chicago gangsters, the Great Depression, inventions, sports, and the arts form the Chicago Tribune Morgue clippings file. Extensive front page coverage.

You'll get immediate scoring, complete answer explanations, and an individualized analysis of your results.

Literary Reference Center

Includes literary works, reviewed critical analyses and brief plot summaries.

Heritage Quest

You can find information on people and places described in over 25,000 family and local histories. Complete set of US Federal Census records from 1790-1930. Over 1.6 million genealogy and local history articles.

eBooks 

NetLibrary eBooksprovides access to digital versions of printed material such as books or journals. You can download and view the titles on your home computer. All available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

A guide to fiction for all ages. Allow fiction readers to locate new authors and titles to read, browse book lists by genre, view book award lists, and link to other fiction-related web sites.

FirstSearch

A collection of free databases provided to Illinois residents by the Illinois State Library. Includes access to a catalog of books and other materials in libraries worldwide, as well as, full text articles in science, the humanities, education, business and medicine.
